RFID (Chip) Timing

We use a UHF (Ultra high frequency) timing chip for our timing. This type of chip is more advanced than other chips and provides greater "read" distances, thus improving reliability in the timing process. All of our chips are available for hire at all the events we time. The chips can also be bought for only R40. The chips are read using antennas positioned at the finish line and can be configured to suit any type of finish area.

Barcode Timing

Another alternative, is barcode scanning. We have a remote scanner which can scan barcodes up to 15m away from the computer. This form of timing is ideal if competitors can have the barcode on their bike boards or attached to them in some way. We have used this timing method very successfully for mountain biking, swimming and multisport events.

Fingerprint Timing

This is a relatively new method that we have employed and is ideal for adventure racing or events where a competitor is required to sign in at certain points. We collect the fingerprints at registration and then the competitors simply place their finger on the scanner at the finish or transition point. The system is very accurate and extremely fast.

Manual Timing

Of course we offer a conventional timing system where we record the race numbers manually. This is still computerised, but the numbers are typed into the system as opposed to being automatically logged in via scanner of some sort.
